Mid Century American reproduction print “Quiet Day” by Stow Wengenroth

US$15.00
Item number: 163

This mid century American reproduction print titled “Quiet Day” by Stow Wengenroth is colored by a powerful and thoughtful personality. This young artist had a lively interest in the drama of light and shade, and in a certain sense most of his compositions, though in no sense overwrought, are gently theatrical. The locale of “Quiet Day” is Wellsleet, on Cape Cod. The elements of the scene are of the simplest: the dunes in the distance, in the foreground two somber willows standing guard over the small boats grounded amid the bulrushes.
Wengenroth was born in Brooklyn on July 25, 1906. He studied with Wayman Adams, George Bridgman, John Carlson, and George Pearse Ennis, and at an early age asserted his own unmistakable individuality. Most of his lithographs are devoted to architectural subjects and New England scenes.
